Who Am I?

Hola! Konnichiwa! Dia Dhuit! Hello!

My name is Bronlynn Thurman and welcome to my portfolio. I'm a Visual & Literary Storyteller from the mystical Midwest. Graduating from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and a double minor in Marketing and Psychology, I specialize in Design, Illustration, and Photography.

I've interned at the printing company, Digital Color International, LLC where I acted as the Marketing Director's assistant. While there I handled the company's blog, designed their travel books, created a FSC web banner, designed a direct mailer, and created press releases.

Currently, I am the Akron Program Associate for the Knight Foundation and Program Assistant for the GAR Foundation. In this job, I work in the grantmaking sphere focusing on art, education, and creative placemaking. I also support and organize community based programs. Prior to this, I worked as an Events Assistant at the Akron-Summit County Public Library where I help develop events, design the staff newsletter, and manage audio and visual equipment. I was also the Lead Section Editor of The Arts for The Devil Strip, Akron's culture magazine. There I oversaw the organization of The Arts section, dished out stories to writers, developed my own stories, and did a bit of photojournalism.

When I'm not working, I'm working. I run a fairly popular Northeast Ohio-focused music, art, and food blog called "Tea Time with the Mad Artist." I also run a book review site, a quirky web comic called "Inequivalent Exchange" which is featured in The Devil Strip, develop personal pieces for local galleries, and take on some freelance design/photography work.

If I'm not doing any of the above, I'm reading, traveling, learning, or cooking. Let's just say I like to stay busy.

I hope you all enjoy my portfolio and feel free to shoot me an email any time.
